In this LIVE interactive workshop, artist Chie Kutsuwada brings the work of Shakespeare alive for manga fans and Shakespeare enthusiasts alike.
Chie was born and raised in Japan. She now lives and works in Brighton as a professional manga artist following a degree in printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London.
This event will introduce young people to Manga and Chie's recent work on Shakespeare. Her adaptation of As You Like It is part of a series described as doing 'in book form what film director Baz Luhrmann did on screen – make Shakespeare cool and accessible to a younger generation…'
Chie will share her own illustrations and talk about personification in the manga medium before leading a design and drawing session. This event will enthuse and engage artists, writers and those less interested in English at school.
Following the latest Coronavirus restrictions, this live virtual event will go ahead with a limited schools audience. We'll then share a recording of the event on our website to watch on demand. Applications are open to anyone who wants to join live.
