Bookbug Training

Scottish Book Trust offers funded training courses to support library staff, early years professionals and volunteers to make sure that stories, songs and rhymes are part of every baby and young child’s life.

Our highly-rated training is a blend of practical activities, group discussions and up-to-date research and policy information, with a fun and relaxed approach.

All Bookbug training is funded and offered at no cost to the delegate. Please check you meet the eligibility criteria before applying or registering for a course.

Bookbug Training

Bookbug Session Leader

Bookbug Session Leader training is for those who plan to deliver Bookbug Sessions (free song, rhyme and book sessions) in libraries or other community venues with groups of children (0–5 years) with their mums, dads or carers. We offer training for new Bookbug Session Leaders through an application process. Bookbug for the Home

This online training is for practitioners and volunteers working in the community to support individual families. The training will enable them to enhance their family support work with songs, rhymes and stories. We offer training for new Bookbug for the Home practitioners through an application process. Bookbug Refresher Training

Returning to Bookbug Session Leader

A two-hour online refresher for existing Bookbug Session leaders who are returning after some time away, or want to update their practice. Applicants must have already completed Bookbug Session Leader training.
