Reading Schools is an accreditation programme for schools that are committed to building a culture of reading for their learners and communities. Research proves that reading for pleasure positively impacts learners' attainment across the curriculum, supporting wellbeing, critical thinking, creativity, empathy and resilience.
After 2 successful pilot phases we are now strategically rolling out Reading Schools for 2021-22. Applications will be open to schools across the West Partnership RIC in the below local authorities:
- East Dunbartonshire
- East Renfrewshire
- Glasgow City
- North Lanarkshire
- South Lanarkshire
- West Dunbartonshire
N.B. These sessions are recommended for Head/Depute/Principal Teachers or Literacy Leads/Champions to give them an overview of the Reading Schools programme to bring back to their school. We will run further online training sessions on becoming a Reading School for wider staff at the beginning of the 2021/22 academic year.
