Heather will give space, time, and guidance for participants to explore connections, feelings, and stories of the women's figures associated with Scotland's seas, and to write your own poems or stories in response.
We'll encounter Selkies and the 'daughters of the sea' of North Sea myths. We'll think about the elemental and, through guided exercises and discussions in response to these different words and stories of the women of Scotland's waters, we will move from ideas and inspiration through the first and second draft stages.
The workshop will give space and time for you to connect with other participants, explore different ways of looking at and writing about the sea, and be inspired.
No previous writing experience is required – only interest!
This workshop is open to self-identifying female survivors of sexual violence and domestic abuse aged 18+. This includes cis women, trans women and non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centres the experiences of women. An experienced support worker will be present and a live transcript will be available through Otter.ai.
