01236 632702 cumbernauldlibrary@northlan.gov.ukWe're delighted to welcome Cumbernauld born author Kirkland for an evening of chat about his new novel Sadie, Call The Polis. His previous work was Happiness Is Wasted On Me, a story set in Cumbernauld during the '90s, which became a cult favourite.
Sadie, Call The Polis is an offbeat story about a Scottish family as seen through the eyes of Sadie Relish, whose journey from childhood to adulthood is rendered in crushing detail. Her disastrous first date, late nights at the bus stop, running away from home, the hangovers, her first and last job, Covid, and all the drama in between.
Kirkland Ciccone is a punk, an author, and a performer who has toured the country in theatres, libraries, and schools. From the moment his mother sent him to the Post Office with the Family Allowance book, Kirkland knew books would loom large in his life. One of his first jobs was a psychic consultant, that is telling everyone they were going to meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger. He trained in Journalism but quickly discovered live storytelling and writing stories. He also works at your local library, trying hard to not look happy when someone takes out one of his books.
Books will be available to buy.
