Jamie Jauncey came late to the extraordinary life of his great-great uncle, RB Cunninghame Graham. Known as Don Roberto, he was a fantastic combination of Sir Gawain and Don Quixote, Indiana Jones and the Lone Ranger.

Join Jamie for a preview of his forthcoming book – an unmissable story of horsemanship and adventure, politics and literature, family secrets, love and loss. Jamie's biography of his great-great uncle, RB Cunninghame Graham, will be published in summer 2023.

In this illustrated talk he gives a preview of the book which describes the extraordinary life of Don Roberto and how Jamie came late in life to connect with him. Best known as the founder, with Keir Hardie, of the Scottish Labour Party, Don Roberto later became the founding president of the SNP. But in a long and remarkable life he was many other things besides including writer, horseman, adventurer and, above all, humanitarian. Almost everything he stood for rings more loudly than ever today.

'his event is presented by Birnam Book Festival as part of Book Week Scotland.
