Conversation and Q&A with Mary Paulson-Ellis, bestselling author of The Other Mrs Walker (a Waterstones Scottish Book of the Year) and The Inheritance of Solomon Farthing (long-listed for the McIlvanney Prize).

Mary writes dual-timeline detective novels about the world of people who die with no next-of kin, across the genres of literary, crime and historical fiction. Learn more about the world of heir hunters – those genealogical 'detectives' who seek out the living relatives of someone who has died without a will in return for a slice of their cash.

As all good heir hunters know, the real answers to the mysteries of the present always lie somewhere in the past. Which is where the crimes in her novels lie too.

Mary will be discussing all three of her novels, including her latest book, Emily Noble's Disgrace, her interest in the crime genre and her writing process. She lives in Edinburgh, where her books are set.
