Take part in our face-to-face creative writing workshop run by author Alex Nye. She is going to inspire us to celebrate and write about our own story. After the workshop you are invited to participate in a creative writing competition, writing a 150 words composition on the topic of your own story. You will get your work published and a chance to win great prizes.

Alex was made a Fellow of the Royal Literary fund in 2021. She is the author of seven published novels, including two historical novels about Mary Shelley and Mary Queen of Scots.

Her last novel, called Even The Birds Grow Silent, is a collection of narrative fragments told by Death Herself. She feels she gets a very bad press nowadays and is keen to tell her side of the story. From singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen to writer Virginia Woolf, to the tragic life of Lady Jane Grey, nine day's Queen, Death has walked in their shadows and now, for the first time, shares her insights on them.

This event is funded by SLIC (Scottish Library & Information Council).
