Join Haemophilia Scotland for a conversation with Theresa Talbot, Scottish broadcaster/presenter and crime writer. Talbot's acclaimed book, Keep Her Silent, is an historical fiction based on the contaminated blood scandal of the 1970s and 1980s. The scandal is the worst treatment disaster in the history of the NHS, where thousands of patients were infected with contaminated blood products and around 2,400 people died. A public inquiry was launched by the government in 2018 and is ongoing.
In this evening Zoom event, Talbot will discuss her experience in writing on the shocking tragedy and some of the revelations she discovered. Juxtaposed with the historical impact of the scandal, we'll hear about modern advancements in treatment, such as gene therapy, and what it could mean for the future of haemophilia.
