An online event on Zoom, featuring Sandy NicDhòmhnaill Jones, the reigning Bàrd of An Comunn Gàidhealach, in conversation with Gillebrìde Mac’Illemhaoil, singer, writer, poet and Head of Celtic Studies at Glasgow University. The event will feature Sandy and Gillebrìde interviewing each other about Gaelic language and literature, poetic forms and inspirations, and examples of their favourite bards from Uist and elsewhere.

This conversation will be interspersed with some poetry readings and songs - from Gillebrìde’s recent CDs, and from Sandy’s new collection, ‘An Seachdamh Tonn – The Seventh Wave’, which includes a specially commissioned piece about Uist ‘Taladh Uibhist – Uist’s Call’ for Book Week Scotland. The event will also feature landscape photography and video footage of Uist.

This event will be supported by 6 small films with young authors of yesteryear reading their Gaelic stories and then interviewed to explore where their interest in language and literature has taken them now - some well known to the general public and others less so.
