Join award winning author Kerry Hudson as she discusses her latest book, Lowborn, at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews as part of a wider tour during Book Week Scotland 2019.
In Lowborn Kerry examines her relationship with poverty by looking back on her life growing up in some of Britain’s most deprived areas. In particular Kerry talks about her strained relationship with her mother, her experiences of the care system and, ultimately, how she was able to escape the cycle of poverty that dominated much of her life. Unflinchingly honest and beautifully written, Lowborn highlights that poverty is still a major issue in Britain today and one that needs to be talked about more openly in order.
Tickets are free but please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Signed copies of Lowborn will be available to purchase after the event.
