It's Book Week Scotland! And to celebrate this wonderful week of books, we've partnered with local independent publisher Charco Press and Scottish Book Trust for an evening celebrating translated fiction.
Charco works tirelessly to bring the best contemporary Latin American authors into English – in just three years, their contribution to literature has been inspiring. Their most recent title, Loop, by the Mexican writer Brenda Lozano, is a perfect example of Charco's flair for identifying the most dynamic and poignant fiction in Latin America today.
At this event, we're joined by Annie McDermott (translator of Loop), Fionn Petch (copy-editor of Loop) and Carolina Orloff (co-director of Charco Press) in conversation with Julie Danskin (Golden Hare) about the current state of Mexican literature and the Charco journey so far. We'll also hear readings from Loop in English and Spanish – and a specially recorded message from Brenda Lozano herself, exclusive to our audience!
Don't miss this very special evening by the Golden Hare wood-burning stove. The event is free, but booking is essential. Doors open at 6pm. Wine will be served free of charge!
