We are pleased to welcome these crime authors who have both been shortlisted for the prestigious McIlvanney Prize for 2019.

Ambrose Parry is, in fact, two authors – Chris Brookmyre and his wife Dr Marisa Haetzman, who together have crafted two wonderful historical novels set in 19th-Century Edinburgh among the medical profession. Optioned for television by none other than Benedict Cumberbatch, these books give a gruesome glimpse into the darkest shadows of Edinburgh’s underworld.

Doug Johnstone's Breakers also gives a glimpse into Edinburgh society, but this time one that's bang up to date; we follow 17-year-old Tyler from one of the city's most deprived areas as he is coerced into robbing rich people’s homes by his bullying older siblings, while also trying to care for his little sister and his drug-addicted mum.

£9.00 ticket cost.
