Maura McRobbie is a Glasgow writer of Scottish/Irish descent. Her family has lived in Bearsden all her life, and part of the novel ‘Howth’ is set in Westerton in Bearsden.
The book is a Celtic love story based on the life story of her grandmother who left Ireland to settle in Scotland in the early 20th Century.
'It was a story she told me not long before she passed away, when I was fifteen years old. It was such a remarkable story then, and left such a strong impression on me, I began writing it over thirty years ago when I was in my early twenties. Now a grandmother myself, and several drafts later, it is time to let go of my grandmother’s story and there couldn’t be a more fitting occasion than in celebration of Book Week Scotland.'
The book signing event at Bearsden Community Hub will feature a reading by Maura from her book, plus a question and answer session, followed by refreshments.
Reading and Q&A from 6pm, with time for refreshments and mingling from 6.30pm.
