About Our Sister, Again

Our Sister, Again is a poignant, thoughtful sci-fi novel perfect for older children and young teens. Three years ago, Isla's sister Flora became ill and sadly passed away. In the intervening years this loss has weighed heavily on her family and the small island community they live in. When they are offered a second chance to be with their loved one, in the form of an advanced AI recreation, it seems to be an opportunity not to be missed. But not everyone is happy about the arrival of the 'new' Flora and Isla must fight for her returned sisters' recognition and rights.

This beautiful story balances a real sense of Scottish island life and culture alongside its futuristic technology and premise. This combination keeps the family's loss and love at the heart of the story, and adds humanity and depth to the questions it poses: What makes us who we truly are? How does death impact both loved ones and the community they live in? And how might future generations negotiate our relationships with apparently sentient AI?
