Yvonne Hendrie's headshot

Yvonne Hendrie is the author of two novels, The Water Bailiff’s Daughter (Stairwell Books, 2020), and The Iron Brooch (Stairwell Books, coming 2022). Her poetry and pieces of short fiction have also appeared in a number of literary magazines and anthologies. The novels are both Young Adult Fantasy / Crossover books dealing with coming-of-age issues and featuring spirited women, set in Scotland and based on Scottish folklore and mythology. Yvonne’s poems are for adults and feature a number of themes.

Yvonne produced a video for North Ayrshire Library Service encouraging young people to read and write during the first lockdown. She is passionate about literacy and keen to demonstrate that it is never too early or too late to begin! She finds inspiration in the landscapes of Scotland, which form an important backdrop to her work. Yvonne has a background in public speaking and teaching and is available to read from her work and speak to groups.
