Jill Bennett
An ex-chartered school librarian and creative writing tutor, I am now a children's poet performing in Scots, and short story writer regularly published in national magazines. I am also a qualified Bookbug rhymetime Leader.
I am available to do workshops, readings and talks on shorts stories and serial writing for adults, with a keen interest in poetry and in exploring the Scots language with the young. Recent events for 3-6 year olds have included Growin Pains, Bugs Galore and Animal Magic. These performances are presented to introduce the Scots language in a fun and interactive way. The Magic Box is a workshop designed to promote self-esteem and validate children's experiences. It can be done in either Scots or English and is suitable for 7-12 year olds and those with special needs. See Me and See You workshops are done with Elizabeth Cordiner, my co-author of Walkin the Rainbow. These two workshops explore children's lives, their feelings, friendships and how they see the world. Workshops can be adapted to meet school needs.
