A former English teacher, I write novels for young adults. My most well-known works, the award-winning Ferrymantrilogy is based on the Greek mythology of Charon, Hades' ferryman. I have also published Bombmaker, a dystopian thriller about terrorism and survival in an abusive relationship, and Black Cairn Point, the inaugural winner of the Scottish Teenage Book Prize, which is a paranormal thriller about a camping trip that ends in tragedy when a terrifying wraith is unleashed.

I am happy to deliver workshops on most elements of writing, and can deliver talks on my books, their themes, the writing process and publishing, with no limit on audience size. (Photo credit: Nick Mailer)
