We know time is tight, so here is just one activity you could do with your class before or after watching the broadcast.

Create your own hero ENG 2-31a

All of Steve's books feature unique and interesting characters. Ask pupils to create their own hero by thinking of two contradictory or unrelated things, and combining them. Thay can use people or animals. For example, a lion in a tutu. Next, create a fact file for this character. Try this in the form of a ‘hero for hire’ advert, where the new hero advertises their services. Include the following information:

• Major strengths and qualities
• The kind of problems the hero specialises in
• Case studies: small examples of cases the hero has handled in the past
• Testimonies from customers
• A catchy slogan

The 'hero for hire' adverts can then be used to create a display in the classroom, and for future creative writing activities.
