Liz Lochhead

In this broadcast, Liz couples her own poems with those of Robert Burns and performs them in pairs together. Liz Lochhead is a real champion of the aural and oral tradition of poetry reading. Be prepared to hear many Scots poems! The broadcast offers a great opportunity to compare and contrast Liz Lochead's work with that of Robert Burns.

We know time is tight, so here is just one activity you could complete with your class before or after watching the broadcast. 

Hold a poetry event LIT 3-01a, ENG 4-03a, LIT 4-10a

Hold an event to celebrate poetry and the oral tradition of poetry reading. Ask pupils to read bring in a favourite poem and read it aloud to the whole class or to each other in small groups. You could pair the reading with poems they have been working on in class.
