Jon Klassen
Jon Klassen reads his well-loved stories This Is Not My Hat and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole and discusses how picture books are for all ages! He also shares some of his artwork for the films Coraline and Kung Fu Panda, and shows how you can create simple characters on a computer.
If you only do one thing
We know time is tight, so here is just one activity you could do with your class before or after watching the broadcast.
Meet the animals SCN 1-01a, EXA 1-13a
If you had the chance to meet and chat to the animals in the story, what questions would you ask them? Write down all the questions you would like to ask – for example, you might ask what they eat, where they live or what their babies are called. Find out the answers to your questions and create a fact file of different animals.
Alternatively, you could work with a partner, each finding out different animals and telling each other facts about the animal.
You could also play Guess Who? with the rest of the class – describe your animal and ask them to guess which animal it is.
