Job Title: Early Years Training Delivery Manager
Contract: Full time (35 hours), fixed term
Salary: £27,000–£29,499

Job summary
Scottish Book Trust's Early Years programme delivers Bookbug, Scotland's national book gifting programme. The Early Years (EY) Training and Development Team provides a comprehensive range of training for practitioners across Scotland, supporting them to gift Bookbug bags, lead Bookbug Sessions and deliver targeted outreach work to families.
The EY Training Delivery Manager contributes to the success of the team by project managing a busy schedule of in-person and online training dates and webinars, which is delivered by our team of trainers. This role supports the EY Training and Development Manager to maximise reach, and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our training delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Project manage training schedule and delivery
- Predict demand and capacity for training delivery over a 12–18 months period using data analysis
- Monitor training schedule for effectiveness, comparing projected figures with attendance and report back to EY Training and Development Manager
- Assist the EY Training and Development Manager in preparing and monitoring the programme budget
- Oversee training resource kit stock levels and ordering for a 12–18 month period (e.g. researching new suppliers, undertaking competitive procurement)
- Work with EY Training and Development Manager to support evaluation of the programme
- Support development/scoping of online learning modules
- Line manage Early Years Training Administrator
- Oversee the EY Training Administrator to plan training dates using appropriate data to inform decision making
- Add training dates to Scottish Book Trust's website and support EY Training Administrator to promote these to external audiences
- Oversee communications with trainees and application processes
- Continually review efficiency of team administration processes, and assist with implementing improvements
- Research and provide technical/digital solutions for online training and webinars
- Assist the EY Training and Development Manager to engage with external stakeholders and partners to further the development of the Bookbug training programme
- Support EY Training and Development Manager with development of trainee support activities (e.g. webinars)
- Represent EY team in Scottish Book Trust's cross-team Working Groups and disseminate relevant information back to wider EY team as appropriate
- Represent the wider Bookbug programme as appropriate, at conferences, network meetings and events
- Deputise for the EY Training and Development Manager as required
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
- Excellent organisational skills with great attention to detail
- Significant project management experience
- Experience setting and managing budgets and obtaining best value outcomes
- Excellent IT and digital skills, including with video conferencing software and MS Office
- Excellent people skills to motivate and support staff performance and development
- Confident with data handling and analysis
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive and creative approach to problem-solving and solution finding
- Strong team player and able to self-motivate
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Desirable
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and digital course software
- An interest in reading, early years development and in training
- Knowledge of marketing and promotion
- Competent in using CRMs or databases
Other information
The post is based at Scottish Book Trust offices in Edinburgh – the role will be working remotely with designated access to the office during current restrictions.
The post-holder must be prepared to undertake travel across Scotland, from time to time travel elsewhere in the UK, and infrequently abroad to conferences and similar, including occasional overnight stays.
