Our prompt for FastFiction week five was to write a story about funfair

Adult winner

Morna Burdon

Mum made popcorn. Dad played Take That out the bedroom window. I wheeled gran fast round and round the garden path whilst Auntie Jean spun the carousel clothes-line and wee Billy pelted empty cans with rolled-up socks. After lockdown, grandad says we should get folk to pay to come in.

Young writers (12-18) winner

Emily Oldridge, age 17

The horses were wild, galloping free, their manes flying in the breeze. An array of different colours charging towards her: pinks, purples, silvers. Suddenly, they all stopped. Sarah ran and jumped on a midnight black one, she had named Jet. The horses galloped again and she squealed with delight.

Young writers (5-11) winner

Eden-Rose Lee, age 10
