Young Writers Conference November 2011
On Saturday 12th November 2011 we held our second Young Writers Conference.
The conference lasted from 10am-4.30pm and was packed full of creative writing workshops for young writers aged 14-17 from all over Scotland.
We had a fantastic group of speakers and workshop leaders: the award-winning author of Skellig, David Almond; playwright Douglas Maxwell; teen author Gillian Philip; poet Elspeth Murray; literary agent Lindsey Fraser and Words Per Minute.

"The Scottish Book Trust Young Writers Conference was, as ever, slickly organised and creatively put together. The writers were engaged and exciting. Not only is it a great way for them to connect with the professional world of prose, poetry and plays, it’s a way to meet people who are just like them, from all over the country, and to also meet people who used to be just like them and have now, somehow, survived, making a living doing what they love most. There was a lot of inspiration floating about I thought. I loved it." Douglas Maxwell

Take a look at pictures and a video from last year's conference.
If you're unable to attend the conference but are keen to develop your creative writing why not take a look at our creative writing videos from teen authors Cathy Forde and Keith Gray? You can also watch videos from last year's conference speakers Ella Hickson, Ryan Van Winkle and Jason Donald.
Thank you to the generous publishers who sponsored the goody bags for the 2011 conference:
