"If we could have mentored every applicant, I'd have done it in a heartbeat. It was such a hard decision: so much imagination, so much potential, so many inspired and inspiring young writers. Developing a career as a writer is a slow process, and when you're at the start of the journey it can be hard to see the path ahead. Looking back, I wish I'd enjoyed the journey more, rather than rushing forward, trying to see the destination. So enjoy it, and know that success comes from a little bit of talent and a lot of hard work. Every word you read or write brings you closer to your dream. Keep reading. Keep writing. And remember that the only difference between published and unpublished writers is that the published ones didn't give up."
- Kirsty Logan, Writer & Young Writers Awards Mentor

"The Young Writers Awards programme has been extremely beneficial to me, helping me to have more confidence in myself as a writer. A dream that I might like to be a writer when I am older seems more like a goal to me now; I feel more purposeful, and more determined, and, really, that's what I needed most."
 - Zara

“Ironically enough, I can’t actually put into words how helpful this award has been to me. I definitely think that my writing has improved, and I feel more focussed and inspired than I ever have in my life. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to develop their writing, or learn more about the world of publishing.”
 - Jamie
