Looking for a great venue in the heart of Edinburgh?

Sandeman House, home of the Scottish Book Trust, offers a unique space and a delightful award-winning garden just off the Royal Mile in the centre of Edinburgh's Old Town.

Sandeman House is ideal for hosting small conferences, workshops, team-building days, and seminars, as well as drinks receptions, literary events, launches or parties.

Venue Facilities Include:

• The Main Space: a 10 metres x 9.5 metres open plan room. An old church hall with high ceilings and six large skylights gives the space a warm and inviting feeling. With lightweight tables and chairs, the room can be set-up in a variety of ways, including, up to 100 theatre style - and can host to 125 standing.
• Sandeman House Gardens: A unique and calming space in the heart of the old town. The award-winning gardening, when combined with the Main Space can host functions for up to 200 guests, and is ideal for drink receptions, launch parties, and weddings.
• Flexible catering options: you choose or we can arrange.
• Audio visual equipment available for hire.

To further assist in the success of your event, situated across the garden is the Scottish Storytelling Centre. The Centre, home to the Scottish Storytelling Network has event facilities which compliment the Sandeman House. The Centre houses the Netherbow Theatre, a raked 99-seat auditorium, with high specification lighting, projection and amplification systems, as well as rooms that can serve as break-out spaces.

If your event would work best with a combination of facilities, the Scottish Storytelling Centre and Scottish Book Trust will work together closely to facilitate your needs. Get in touch with us to discuss your requirements, even if you have a more unusual request.

Unfortunately, Sandeman House is not wheelchair accessible at this time. However, there may be something we can do to accommodate persons with certain mobility impairments. Please note, Sandeman House does not currently have an induction loop. If you have any questions regarding access to the building or gardens, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

A note about accessible parking, if you have a Blue Badge you can park in any public parking space in Edinburgh. The nearest public parking spaces are on Jeffery Street.
