« Back to The Book That Changed My Life
Author: Rene Goscinny
Synopsis

BOOK 8 The Romans have invaded Britain but one village still holds out against them. At his British cousin Anticlimax's request, Asterix and Obelix set off to help with a barrel full of magic potion.

My Story

I am slightly dyslexic and at school I was a very reluctant reader. I did however love looking at pictures, so it’s no exaggeration to say that if it wasn’t for Asterix I may never have gone on to enjoy all the other important books of my life. It was the adventure and humour in the pictures that first got me hooked and eventually persuaded me that it was worth giving the words a go too. I have never looked back and I am sure that in some way they helped me choose my career as a children’s picture book author and illustrator. I still open up my Asterix book collection every now and again to marvel at the beautiful simplicity of Uderzo’s landscapes and laugh at Goscinny’s comic skill with words.
