Sharon Kirk's story about Jane Eyre
« Back to The Book That Changed My Life
Author: Charlotte Bronte
Jane Eyre is an orphan, dependent on the charity of an aunt who treats her cruelly. She is sent to boarding school at 10. Eight years later, she leaves her position as a teacher to become a governess at Thornfield Hall, where she meets the enigmatic Mr Rochester.
My Story
I read my mothers cloth bound copy of this title when I was about 12 years old. I remember feeling very grown up and as a result I went on to read many of the classics. I have recently purchased my own cloth bound edition of 'Jane Eyre' as I have worn out some many paperback editions of this title. It is a book that I return to often and never tire of.
