My Story

Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" was something I kept hearing about from my friends at school. The Librarian had the whole series and girls were just devouring them! The book tells the story of a young girl called Bella who comes to live in the small town of Forks where she meets the mysterious and brilliantly beautiful Cullen Family. The school library had posters of the book and the movie which were drooled over by most of the female population! I myself was not a reader and wasn't convinced of this "frenzy". My friends practically begged me to read the book. I said "No". I hated reading, simply because I thought the whole concept of being able to fit a book into two hours on a screen fitted my agenda much more happily. I was eventually dragged along to the cinema and I obediently watched the movie whilst my friends' teary-eyed performance got me thinking - "This seems pretty important to them" I decided then to buy the book and see what all this fuss was about. Normally if I ever did read a book, it would be once in a blue moon and would take me months to finish, but somehow and I really don't know how, "Twilight" took me literally 2 days to complete which astounded me! I felt I related to the famous Isabella Swan, as she too felt alienated and the odd one out - even amongst my true friends I could still feel that way. It's a year since I read "Twilight" and I am pleased to say that reading has now become and always will be a major part of my life.
