James Bartlett's story about Toilet Of Doom
« Back to The Book That Changed My LifeAn funny adventure about a boy who decides to swap his life for another one and ends up swapping bodies with his friend.
My Story
The book that changed my life was probably 'The Toilet of Doom' by Michael Lawrence. It was a different book to me because I always read small, short, huge-writing books. It wasn't like a book that had one tiny sentence on a page with big writing. It changed my life because it got me into reading and it was really funny and interesting. I saw the book at my school book fair and I picked it up. When I looked at it I thought it looked stupid because it had a huge toilet with a face on it.
My friend saw me pick it up and came over before I put it back on the shelf. He said that it was a fantastic book and I should give it a go so I just decided to buy it. I started reading it late at night in my bed. The first page said "Feel Like Your Life Has Gone Down The Pan?" As I started to read on it started to get interesting.
The book was about a boy called Jiggy McCue who plays a game. When Jiggy started to play the game it said "Feel like your life has gone down the pan? Well here's your chance to swap it for a better one, Just hit 'F' for Flush and it will all change" Jiggy quickly hits the flush button and the toilet flushes. The next morning Jiggy wakes up and find's himself in Angie's body. Jiggy phones Angie straight away and Angie realises the same thing has happened to her. They switch lives so no-one would notice. It's up to Jiggy and the gang to get things sorted out before something else happens. I won't tell you a lot about the book because you can maybe read it because its very interesting and funny as you turn the pages.
It inspired me a lot because it was such a good book and it made me go and put all the Jiggy McCue stories on my Christmas list. I actully got every single one so I was really happy. I started to read other books like 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' by Jeff Kinney. I have read two of them and they are really funny and am planning to get the 3rd and 4th book. I have also read Anthony Horowitz books; 'The Falcons Malteser' is my favourite, it's an amazing detective story and I have read it twice and I would like to get some more of his novels.
