Synopsis
A collection of short horror and ghost stories, by popular mystery and crime writer John Connolly.

My Story

Before I read 'Nocturnes' I did not believe in the power of the imagination. I believed that only the moving image held the power to scare or simply send a shiver down one's spine. This was until I read this plethora of spooky tales.

This collection of some vignettes, some short stories and one novella would delight anyone who is brave enough to read stories that WILL give you nightmares. I always had to read these stories in full sunlight. I hesitate to call them horror per se, I think they are rather more subtle than that, they suggest an idea, and then it is left to your imagination to work it into a scary thought. This makes the scare personal and all the more frightening.

I now realise that books are far superior at giving one a scare trip than the TV or films!
