The Specialest Day Ever! By Sarah Jane Treacy
The special day of my life was finding out I was having a brother or sister. I felt so happy that finally there was going to be someone to play with.
Finally, the day had come. It was the 31st of May 2000 and I was with my grandad in his car. The bad news was that I had the chickenpox and wasn’t allowed in the hospital in case of any infection spread. I was dying to find out if it was a boy or girl, but time was just going too slow. Sitting fidgeting with my fingers waiting for that big text or phone call, I jumped at any noise; checking the phone but nothing had come yet.
Then suddenly I heard I heard a bring-bring. My granddad jumped to the phone it was my nana. It was five minutes at least until the call was over. What is it?
It’s a baby boy! My grandad replied.
I felt all tingely and could have ran into that hospital chickenpox or not who cares! I just wanted to see him.
My grandad drove me back to his house where we waited for my mum, dad, nana and my new baby brother to come home but no sign. I needed to see him and was worried about my mum. Was she okay? Then after a restless hour of waiting the door slowly opened. All I could hear was a massive giggle. It was him. My new baby brother chuckling to himself. He smiled at me and stared for a while.
My new baby brother had black hair (jet black) and was like a baby chimpanzee. He was so cute, his lovely puppy eyes made me so proud that he was mine. Mum was fine, just a little tired, we turned on the TV but quietly for the baby. I watched the kids channel and at the end the credits came up. We were looking at the names and at the end it said Zac. My mum jumped that’s it! ZAC that’s what we called him. I thought that that suited him so much and after all there are not many Zacs in the world. I loved it, seeing my family so happy like that, my dad and mum over the moon and of course my nana and granddad delighted, but I was the happiest of all because Zac Peter Stuart Treacy was my new and true baby brother!
That moment will never leave me, even when I die I will remember my family so happy and of course my little brother called Zac.
(Zac is now eight and is really one cheeky monkey!)
