Make a private donation to Scottish Book Trust
The excellent and far-reaching work of Scottish Book Trust includes many exciting projects aimed at nurturing a love of reading, writing and books in children from birth. Research shows that children growing up in homes with many books get 3 years more schooling than children from bookless homes, regardless of their parents’ education, occupation, and class. Many of Scottish Book Trust’s activities include direct access to free books. Your support will help ensure the provision of this crucial work.
How your money can help:
- £5 buys 2 books and support materials to get young families sharing books together
- £50 covers the costs of a teacher pack full of learning resources to teach literacy creatively in school
- £200 supports a group of adults with disabilities to take part in a creative writing workshop
- £400 provides free book sets for a class in a disadvantaged school to enable each child to take part in shared reading sessions
- £750 allows us to mentor an emerging writer for a year
- £1,500 pays for an author to visit 10 schools in a remote region of Scotland and enthuse over 2,000 children to read and write
Your donation can help more people develop a love of reading and writing. Please consider direct debit - even a small donation each month means we can plan our work more effectively.
