Review:
The book the “Witness” by James Jauncey is a thrilling book about a boy that was the only person that survived a horrific massacre in his home town. After the massacre was over the main character John goes down into to the town to see if he could find any more survivors and here he finds a young boy called Ninian. They travel across the Highlands in search for a safe place to take shelter away from the soldiers. John has a difficult time on his journey as he tries to handle Ninian and his strange behaviour. As the story goes on the relationship between John and Ninian grows and they become closer together. The book is written in the present tense but the writer jumps back to the past to tell us about the death of his younger brother. As they travel around Scotland they meet new characters and their relationships grow. I really liked the main character John because he did not give up on his journey to reach Ninian’s father and was always happy. I liked this book and I would give it a rating of 7. I would recommend this book because of the plot and characters.
