I have recently read The Reckoning, a book by James Jauncey. The genre is mainly Mystery and Adventure. This book is set on a Scottish island, and the setting here will help you to understand the story. This island is very remote, and it is just your average small town where everyone there is familiar with one another. In a way they are protected from most danger, because nothing really interesting ever happens there, all they have ever known is right in front of them. The theme of this story I thought was Racism, and about how your family stick together in all of the tough times. The story is mainly about Fin, a mixed-race teenager whose sister has been missing for about a year. Fin genuinely cares about his sister, and would walk through fire to protect her. Her disappearance has rocked Fin’s family, and although Fin has an awkward relationship with his father, he has to put that behind him to get on with his life.
