Review:
The Eleventh Orphan is a hugely thrilling and entertaining book based on eleven year old orphan Elfie's life. When Elfie is brought to the Pig & Whistle, a public house in Stoke Newington in London run by Ma and Pa Bigsby - Ma Bigsby is reluctant to take her in. When Elfie shows her what is in her bag - a watercolour painting of the Pig and Whistle - she becomes and eleventh of ten orphans. As Elfie gets used to her new environment, she forms a freindship with Joe, an orphan from the West Indies. With danger and mystery at every corner, Elfie's life continues on with the strong hope that one day she might meet her real father... My favourite characters in this story would have to be Joe, bicause of his loyalty and friendship with Elfie, and Pa Bigsby because of his devotion to helping Elfie find her real father and the way he cares so much for all the orphans education and welfare. My favourite part is probably when Elfie decides to stay at the Pig and Whistle instead of going to live with her father because it shows a good sense of loyalty to her friends. This book is highly recommended to anyone who likes danger and mystery books, but also likes a happy ending.
