Review:
Elfie’s life is a mystery. Well it is, all she has is her brown bag. She lived at an orphanage but then ran away. ‘It were ‘orrible’ she said. Constable O’Dowd brought her to Ma and Pa Bigbsy and they were reluctant to take her because they all ready have 10 other children to look after but she can earn her keep! Elfie doesn’t really know anything about her parents beyond her mother dying and the objects in her bag. Pa Bigbsy is curious too and with the help of her bag they unravelled the mystery together. I liked this book so much that it is currently my favourite book My favourite character was Joe because he was a good friend to Elfie and he would never hold a grudge. It really annoyed me when Pa Bigbsy kept correcting everyone’s grammar! I think this book should win because it is so engaging and I think everyone’s a bit like Elfie, inquisitive, impatient etc.
