Review:
I enjoyed this book because it had lots of action in it and made you want to keep reading to find out what happens. My favourite character was Effie who is very quiet and shy at the beginning of the story. She is quiet and shy because she lives on the street and barely sees anyone. When she goes into the Pig and Whistle and grabs food, she changes from being a girl who cannot speak properly to someone able to speak properly, eat properly without snatching and being able to learn new things. The author has changed her from a poor, dirty unhappy girl into a happy, smarter girl who gets a family and belongs somewhere. This book would suit young people who like a story with a mystery which you get the answers to as you read along.
