Review:
Dark Isle My book report is on Dark Isle by D A Nelson. The story starts at a guesthouse along the coast of Scotland. The main characters are: Morag, a small girl aged 10 who lives with her foster parents in the guesthouse, a dodo called Bertie who got stuck in the cellar of the guesthouse, and a rat called Aldiss who got stuck in the cellar with Bertie. Morag has to do all the chores around the house. One day she didn’t finish the chores before going to bed. She woke up early to do the dishes. Moira (one of her foster parents) told her to make her breakfast when there were no clean dishes left. Morag got angry and threw glasses and plates about. That’s when she got locked in the cellar. I enjoyed the book because there were magical things in it. It gets you thinking about a magical island way out in the sea. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 because it didn’t mention Morag’s foster parents very much. I would recommend this book to my friends because they would like magical books like this. I plan to vote for this book.
