The Eleventh Orphan is a hugely thrilling and entertaining book based on eleven year old orphan Elfie's life. When Elfie is brought to the Pig & Whistle, a public house in Stoke Newington in London run by Ma and Pa Bigsby - Ma Bigsby is reluctant to take her in. When Elfie shows her what is in her bag - a watercolour painting of the Pig and Whistle - she becomes and eleventh of ten orphans. As Elfie gets used to her new environment, she forms a freindship with Joe, an orphan from the West Indies. With danger and mystery at every corner, Elfie's life continues on with the strong hope that one day she might meet her real father... My favourite characters in this story would have to be Joe, bicause of his loyalty and friendship with Elfie, and Pa Bigsby because of his devotion to helping Elfie find her real father and the way he cares so much for all the orphans education and welfare. My favourite part is probably when Elfie decides to stay at the Pig and Whistle instead of going to live with her father because it shows a good sense of loyalty to her friends. This book is highly recommended to anyone who likes danger and mystery books, but also likes a happy ending.

I love this book Crash. I thought that the story behind this book was brilliant. The only downside of the book is that it skips between chapters. Maybe this was a way of keeping your attention and building suspence, I don't know but I found that aspect of the book quite confusing. The blurb brought me into the book and made me intruiged to find out what actually happened in this mysterious book. The words the author used to describe inside the book were superb. I also thought that the characters had really good personalitys and I thought the author expressed that really well. Overall I would reccomend this book to all of my friends. It was FABULOUS!!!

I have recently read a book called 'Stick Man' by Julia Donaldson with great illustrations by Axel Scheffer.
I thought it was a great book!
The main character is Stick Man who is actually a stick who has a great adventure. My favourite part was when Stick Man got home to his stick family in the family tree. I would give it 9/10 and would say it is for 2 - 10 year olds.

Elfie’s life is a mystery.
Well it is, all she has is her brown bag. She lived at an orphanage but then ran away. ‘It were ‘orrible’ she said. Constable O’Dowd brought her to Ma and Pa Bigbsy and they were reluctant to take her because they all ready have 10 other children to look after but she can earn her keep!
Elfie doesn’t really know anything about her parents beyond her mother dying and the objects in her bag. Pa Bigbsy is curious too and with the help of her bag they unravelled the mystery together.
I liked this book so much that it is currently my favourite book My favourite character was Joe because he was a good friend to Elfie and he would never hold a grudge. It really annoyed me when Pa Bigbsy kept correcting everyone’s grammar! I think this book should win because it is so engaging and I think everyone’s a bit like Elfie, inquisitive, impatient etc.

I enjoyed this book because it had lots of action in it and made you want to keep reading to find out what happens. My favourite character was Effie who is very quiet and shy at the beginning of the story. She is quiet and shy because she lives on the street and barely sees anyone. When she goes into the Pig and Whistle and grabs food, she changes from being a girl who cannot speak properly to someone able to speak properly, eat properly without snatching and being able to learn new things. The author has changed her from a poor, dirty unhappy girl into a happy, smarter girl who gets a family and belongs somewhere. This book would suit young people who like a story with a mystery which you get the answers to as you read along.

This book is about two brothers who discover an egg that is almost breakfast but decide to save it when they hear it talk. The siblings work together looking after it even after it hatches making their secret even bigger and harder to keep. The story is interesting and funny and challenging all at the same time. Big words being used makes the reader want to find out what they mean so that the plot can be understood properly.Although the illustrations are black and white the language used to describe things lets the readers imagination become full of colourful images. All of these things will make the reader want to read it again and recommend it to other kids wether a dinosaur fan or not.

I really enjoyed this book because it had mystery, friendship and love all in one story.
The Reckoning is about a boy called Fin, as he is walking by a bridge a girl suddenly falls, her name is Charlotte Svensson. The book is all about Fin trying to find out how Charlotte died, as he tries to figure this out it leads him to his long lost sister Maia.
My favourite part of the book is the last ten chapters, because they reveal a lot and there’s a lot of suspense.
My favourite character is Poacher. I like him because no matter what he was doing he would always help Fin, or listen to him, so he was a true friend.
My least favourite part of the book is the start because it's sad as the girl that was shoved off the bridge was Maia's best friend. Also not much happens in the middle of the book. It was quite good at the start then it tailed off in the middle, and then picked up again in the last few chapters.
Having read this book I would like to read some more of James Jaunceys books.
