'Wasted' was definitely different, I've never read a book like it before. I liked how the story referred back to things which Jack had done. I thought flicking the coin at the end made the story personal to the reader- I did it and didn't even look at the other option- but there wasn't really the 'big' ending I'd expected. Worth reading !

Review:
The Case Of The London Dragonfish Written by Joan Lennon The main characters in this story were Professor Snit , Professor Appleword, Mr Thurgood ,Mathew Bone ,Granny Tonic and Slightly Jones . Slightly has red hair, freckles, brown eyes and a bad temper. This story is about a young girl called Slightly who is trying to find out who stole the fossil or how it disappeared . I found this book very interesting because you didn’t know what was going to happen next. I would say the age group would be P4-7 and I would give is book a 8/10.

The Case of the London Dragonfish Written by Joan Lennon The main characters are Professor Snit, Professor Appleword, Mr Thurgood, Mathew Bone, Granny Tonic and Slightly Jones. Slightly has red hair and she thinks she’s a detective. She has a bad temper so she keeps track of it by using a chart. She doesn’t stay with her Mum and Dad, she stays with her Granny Tonic. The story started one day in London when Slightly and her Granny went to the National Museum and found that Professor Appleword had lost his most prized fossil. Slightly found out that Professor Snit had stolen it. Slightly found it just in time for Queen Victoria to unveil it. It was found in Professor Snit’s lab. I really enjoyed the story because it was a detective story. I would recommend it to P4/7. I would give it 8/10

Review:
Prisoner of inquisition This book is one of the best books I have ever read it is filled with adventure, romance and mystery. What more could you ask for in a book? Two different people Zarita the magistrate daughter and Saulo a beggar’s son tell the stories from their points of views. To begin with Zarita accuses Saulo’s father of assaulting her and he is hung. Lucky for Saulo his life is spared but he is sent away to live a life at sea. All Saulo wants more than to be back on land is to seek revenge on Zarita and her family if it is the last thing he does. After the incident Zarita story starts with the leader of the inquisition come and stays with her family to see if they are keeping up with the laws and regulation given by the Spanish queen. Things spiral out of control when Zarita shouts at the leader of the inquisition and then refuse to do her Christian studies but worst of all she hits her pregnant step mother, which cause Zarita’s father to send her away to her the convent that her auntie runs. Once there her father disowns her and live her new life as a nun. It is a different story for Saulo that starts with him being on a Spanish ship before he is sold for supplies to a ship run by captain Cosmo, were he becomes a slave and soon after Cosmo takes him under his wing. Teaches him all he knows about astrology and reading maps. Things seem good until the day every thing changes when their ship is attacked by a Spanish ship. Captain Cosmo gives Saulo his coat but he later discovers that Cosmo kept his money in the lining. Columbus soon rescues Saulo and then teaches him more than he could have ever wanted to know about maps and astrology. Once docked in Spain they depart. Their stories connect when Saulo goes to Zarita’s house in hopes of getting revenge on Zarita and her family. He discovers that Zarita is not there he sets fire to her house killing his father. Zarita’s stepmother manages to escape. He runs away and goes I search of Zarita. Zarita finds her stepmother who is taken to the convent were she goes into labour and it is up to Zarita to deliver the baby with the help of a Jewish doctor. The baby made it but sadly Zarita’s stepmother dies with the words “burn the letter” spilling out her mouth. Zarita and Saulo fall I love unsure who they are. Saulo is the first to relies when he does he sets out to murder her before he doe that Zarita is arrested. It turns out that her stepmother her sent a letter to the inquisition, which states that Zarita and her father have been constructing Jewish practices and that she must be burned at the stake. The night before Zarita’s auntie takes her place with the help of Saulo once escape everything seems fine until Spanish soldiers chase them Saulo goes on a trip around the world with Columbus and Zarita hides until they return. My favourite part of the book is in fact the part when Saulo is on captain Cosmo’s boat as I found it mesmerising the way it put you at the edge of your seat just wondering what was going to Saulo next. Also the way you think at any minute something terrible could happen to him. My favourite character would have to Saulo because he is the one I was most drawn to the way he was so determined even though he was trying to kill someone. Also the way he released that he never really took the chance to get to know who Zarita really was but when he took a moment to talk to her he fell in love. Sadly after that he did attempt to killer but in the end he realised that killing her was not going to bring his father back. The worst part of the book would have to be none I can honestly say I found nothing wrong with this book it is everything you want and more if you have not read it go straight to nearest book store or library and get this book out. It contains everything that you could ask for love, action, adventure and more. By Emily Davis
