The case of the London dragonfish is a good book. It's about mysteries and detectives. Slightly Jones is a young girl who loves to solve mysteries and takes her inspiration from Sherlock Holmes. Slightly lives with her granny Tonic called Limpopo. She also lives with Miss Forth, Mr Gentler and Mr Thurgood.Slightly Jones has red hair, freckles and a temper that she can't control. At the Natural History Museum a special fossil, the dragonfish is about to be presented to Queen Victoria. But when the fossil goes missing, the night-watchman at the museum is falsely accused or is it false? Slightly doesn't think it is and won't let the real culprit get away with it. Granny Tonic and Slightly are determined to find the real culprit and through their investigation they meet Matthew Bone. Matthew and Slightly become frenemies and with granny Tonic all three of them try and solve the mystery and get Mr Thurgood out of prison. This book is set in Victorian times. It's very detailed and although it's a good book it could be a little more exciting.

Kylie and Yosser are best friends. Sniper is Kylie's brother. He loves skulls and he is kind of a gangster. Kylie's house is fullof pets but Yosser only has a goldfish. Kylie is worried that Sniper is going to ruin her mother's birthday party. Yosser was given a box and they are looking for the key. She thinks there is a curse in it. Yosser has sneaked a cat into her house, its called Killer Queen. It was a fun party. Kylie was in a mood, she thought Sniper was going to do something terrible but it turned out to be good. A birthday surprise. Yosser thought her Auntie Shabnam would be diffucult but she was perfect for the job. I did not like the book because it did not really make sense to me. I was really relieved because on page 62/63 the hamster did end up in a pocket. I thought that would never happen.

Review:
Wasted is a book that captures a fascinating idea, all caught up in a story by Nicola Morgan. She has written of something that many people, today and for hundreds of years in the past, have wondered about and pondered over...is there such a thing as luck, the thing we call chance? Through the telling of the romance between a young couple and the spinning of a coin you may find more of whether the smallest things make the biggest difference to life and if it is actually possible to control the future. Her characters-Jack and Jess- are fairly unique in personality and very engaging although a bit too perfect in appearance in my opinion. They fall for each other when Jack happens to pass the music studio at the school where Jess is singing (by complete chance of course) and invites her to join his band “Schrödinger’s cats”. Even the name of his band reflects his superstitions, as you will find in the book. The book is quite hard to understand to start as it actually happens to be the end; the story is told like a flashback but more as though it is happening right at that moment in time. Other than the unusual start and in some bits an attempt to push a point a bit far, I found the novel interesting and thought provoking.

I did not find the book as exciting as I would of liked it to be, but I did enjoy it. The most interesting part for me was when the fossils cut the man in tiny bits and hides them in a sloth, I did not expect that to happen so i found it interesting and amusing. I wished that the writer had put more mystery towards the main character, so you have to keep guessing what was going to happen, I would the want to keep reading on and on. The reason I rated the book out of 5 is because there was not enough suspense and excitement, which I expected it would have. I liked the fact that Slightly Jones and Granny goes on different cases and mysteries together. Also I like when their friends with the criminal and they do not even know it. My favorite character in the book is Granny, because she always knows what to say and do in front of Slightly and always says the right things. She is not like any normal granny, she wants to find out things even though she knows it could be dangerous. Overall I enjoyed reading the book and would recommend it to my friends, who love mysteries.

This book was okay it got better as it went on throughout the story. I found it quite difficult at first to jump between the two characters stories but when the came together it was much easier to follow, and it showed you their different views of things. It wasn't as good at the start but when you get into the story it becomes a lot better.

Review:
Wasted focuses on two things: late Teenage life and luck. The story is about a girl called Jess who is leaving school and a boy called Jack who is obsessed with luck. The story emphasises chance and luck and what may have happened if something occurred a little differently. When Jack meets Jess the book makes it clear if the door of the soundproof recording studio-of witch Jess was in- had been closed Jack wouldn’t of recruited Jess into his Band Schrödinger’s cats and later would scuppered any chance of them going out with each other which they later do. The story also looks at Jess and Jacks family with Jess’s mum being an alcoholic dad working 4,000 miles away Jess has learned how to fend for herself. Jack believes he’s been unlucky in his earlier years and is sure by spinning a certain coin and the result dictating his life his luck will turn and this further etched into his mind when he meets Jess who he met by spinning the coin at the end of the book the reader can spin the coin to decide the outcome.
