I would love to work with your pupils on their creative writing with my inspirational sessions. I perform live candlelit ghost stories, and interactive literacy workshops with sound and images to encourage and inspire. I can also offer longer sessions, having twice been a writer in residence in secondary schools, working on projects over a number of weeks. I am also an experienced secondary school teacher, and am comfortable performing in front of any size of audience, as well as working with smaller groups. I also give inspirational talks to adults, based around my historical novels, to date about Mary Queen of Scots and Mary Shelley.

I love Scottish history, but I also love encouraging and motivating young people, making them feel valuable and encouraging them to have a voice. As well as all my school events, I have delivered author workshops at the National Library of Scotland to teachers on how to use inspirational material. I am a creative writing mentor with the Scottish Book Trust, and have even learnt sign language for this. I am very good at engaging with vulnerable groups and individuals as well as entertaining large audiences.
