I am a children’s author of picture books and middle-grade (9-12) science fiction.

My first picture book, The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears, was published by Walker Books in August 2018. It was shortlisted for the Scottish Book Trust Bookbug Picture Book Prize and included in the Bookbug bags given to every P1 child in Scotland. My first novel, Orion Lost, is a sci-fi adventure published by Nosy Crow in January 2020. It was Blackwell’s Children’s Book of the Month and The Times’ Children’s Book of the Week.

In addition, as a bit of a puzzle geek, I’ve written several books of logic puzzles for children and adults, including the Kids’ Book of Sudoku and Kids’ Book of Kakuro.

I’ve carried out storytelling and interactive sessions at primary schools and other locations, and for the past two years I’ve worked with the Super Power Agency, an Edinburgh-based charity whose volunteers go into classrooms to carry out writing workshops and other projects, helping to inspire pupils to create their own stories.
