About writer's work
PANTOMIME is a young adult circus fantasy set in a Pseudo-Victorian society of the land of Ellada. It stars Micah Grey, a young runaway from life in nobility to become the star of R.H. Ragona’s circus of magic. The sequel, SHADOWPLAY, follows Micah as he learns from one of the greatest magicians in Ellada, Jasper Maske, and uncovers still more secrets of Ellada. The third book in the series, MASQUERADE, will be released in 2017.
PANTOMIME was Scottish Book Trust Teen Book of the Month in May 2014. It was also a top ten title for the American Library Association’s Rainbow List for 2014, was an entry on the 2014 ALA Young Adult Library Services Popular Paperbacks List, won the Bisexual Book Award in Speculative Fiction, and was nominated for other awards, such as the North East Teen Book Award, the Catalyst Book Award, and the Cybils.
FALSE HEARTS is the first of my Pacifica thrillers, near-future science fiction set on the West Coast of the US. It stars formerly conjoined twins who were raised in a cult. Ten years later, one twin is accused of murder and the other twin must assume the other’s identity to prove her innocence and save her life. It was a BBC Radio 2 Book Club selection in July 2016. SHATTERED MINDS, the second Pacifica book, is out in 2017. My short work and poetry has also appeared in various magazines and anthologies.
My work often features acceptance, identity, diversity, the line between magic and technology, romance, and adventure.
