How to apply for Screen Lab
How to apply for Screen Labs
In order to apply for SCREEN LAB we are asking that you submit a 1-3 minute long sample script inspired by the theme of POWER, and a writing CV. Please include your name and contact details on the CV and on each page of your sample script.
Screenwriting Tips
Cinema and TV demand the writer use VISUAL NARRATIVE to tell a story. As a result the maxim "show don't tell" is constantly hammered into screenwriting students. Try to keep this in mind when writing your script.
Avoid long speeches where people tell us stuff (exposition).
You will further develop your submission script during Screen Lab.
Get inspired
Your submission script should not be longer than three pages and must explore the theme of POWER.
The BBC Film network has lots of short films available to view on line at http://www.bbc.co.uk/filmnetwork/. See just what can be done with a great script.
Screenwriting format and software

You can make your own version of the formatting by using word. Write using 12 point courier font and copy the indenting and capitalising of the example scripts.
The following link http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/scriptsmart/ will take you to the BBC Writer's Room. Here you can download SCRIPTSMART, free screenwriting software. This will help you write a professional looking script.
Your script must follow roughly this format.
