Scottish Poetry Library

Scotland’s poetic heritage is rich, diverse and enjoyable. The Scottish Poetry Library, based in Edinburgh, is a unique national resource and advocate for the enriching art of poetry. It provides a wealth of material, information and resources, with borrowing free to all and postal borrowing services. 

To assist teachers and educators, the SPL:

  • Arranges poets’ visits, workshops and residencies throughout Scotland
  • Invites suggestions and requests for both CPD and pupil workshops
  • Invites teachers and classes to visit the library to explore, read and write
  • Welcomes ideas and can offer support and advice on school poetry projects and activities
  • Offers postcards and resources for National Poetry Day
  • Has a special Education section on its lively website http://www.spl.org.uk/
