Scots Language Centre

The Scots Language Centre exists to:
  • encourage the use of Scots as an everyday medium of communication, to raise awareness of the Scots language and its various dialects and to encourage a sense of linguistic pride in the speakers of Scots.
  • promote and encourage international contacts and to work in collaboration with individuals and institutions to make information about Scots more accessible.
  • lobby for improved status for Scots and increased funding for the language.

  • Information in Scots and in English about the historical and contemporary use of the Scots language and local dialects.
  • Audio and video clips illustrating ways in which the language is used.
  • Links to prose, poetry and other resources in Scots.
  • Information about the Scots language in its social and political context.
