Scottish PEN

SCOTTISH  PEN  is among 104 world PEN Centres, whose writer-members forge international links, support translation and linguistic rights and writers imprisoned, threatened or exiled.  PEN stands for Poets, Editors, Essayists, Novelists but includes journalism and academic writing. It supports women writers and aims at world peace where literature knows no frontiers. Scottish PEN brings to young people a message about the essential role of the writer for world peace and freedom of speech. In Scotland we are proud of our democratic traditions and of our writers. The connection between the two is not always made.
