Storyboxes
Storyboxes offer a simple and effective way to explore stories.
What is a Storybox?
Quite simply it is a box filled with appropriate toys and objects to stimulate children's imaginations. It contains Hints and Tips Cards to guide the adult, Activity Cards with ideas for listening and talking games, Stories on cards for the adult to scan and re-tell and Story Activity Cards with ideas to help children explore story types and to create and tell their own stories.
The Storybox project was a pilot study funded by the Scottish Storytelling Centre. Initial work was carried out by storyteller Beth Cross with ideas contributed by other storytellers including Margaret Tollick whose popular playing card idea was further developed for the project. T he themed boxes were then created by storyteller Judy Paterson. Download Judy's report to find out more.
